There’s some days that call for an outfit that’s comfortable and chic at the same time. Of recent, this has been my go-to cosy office outfit for days when I don’t feel like wearing a suit but still need to look polished. I absolutely love this gorgeous, checked shawl I picked up recently which has a beautiful blend of wool making it very warm and cosy which is perfect for these fall temperatures.

There is one wardrobe essential every girl should own and that’s a great blazer. A great blazer can take you from a casual to corporate in seconds. I always ensure, even on more casual days in the office to have a great blazer either with me in the office or in my car in case of an urgent meeting where I need to put your best foot forward on short notice! Surprisingly enough, I purchased this blazer several years ago from H&M for $25 and it has served me well. I love how its not too formal so that I can still pair it with a pair of jeans but can easily be paired with a shift dress such as above to create a suited look. To add some interest to an all-black look, I’ve worn one of my all-time favourite grey, suede heels from Zara which I’ve had for years and are so comfortable. I’m a huge fan of Zara heels – I think they are great value for the quality and price (I think this pair was just $69!). I’m also wearing my Michael Kor’s Selma in Medium Black. I originally purchased the Selma tote to be paired with this style of outfit and as you can see it accessorizes beautifully with a formal, corporate look. I’m currently in the process of writing a review on the MK Selma which may be of interest to anyone looking to purchase this style of tote.

Despite the plethora of bloggers across the net these days, I feel there is a huge gap in real, authentic, affordable corporate style inspiration. Almost every blogger out there is blogging about ‘what to wear to Coachella‘ or featuring a cute jumpsuit that, honestly I couldn’t wear in an corporate environment. I’m excited to start this new column to feature affordable, classic corporate style that is wearable and stylish.
The majority of my corporate wardrobe contains a lot of black. To be honest, it’s mostly black. Maybe it’s because I live in Melbourne, Australia, where black is the fashion staple. That and hipster beards for men.
Now that you’ve been warned, let’s get into the details. This look pairs a simple black pair of ankle-length trousers from Banana Republic which have become an absolute wardrobe staple. While we don’t have Banana Republic stores in Australia (yet!), I picked up several pairs (linked below) during my trip to Singapore earlier this year. I paired these black pants with a blouse and a statement jacket to complete the ensemble. The jacket I am wearing provides a bit of pizzazz to my day and adds a lovely touch of colour. The jacket is also versatile, and can be easily paired with a skirt, or even for a casual look with jeans and boots. A pair of black pumps is an absolute wardrobe staple, and this pair get me through a day often spent on my feet, with little discomfort.
