Be Adventerous

Life, as I know it, is an adventure in and of itself.  Without risking adventure and accepting new challenges life would not be the exciting journey that it is. One should never be limited by being too young, being too old, being single or in a relationship.  Or being restricted by the figures in your bank balance.  Don’t even to wait for a better time or or a more suitable location.

You don’t need endless time and perfect conditions. Do it now. Do it today. Do it for twenty minutes and watch your heart start beating.
-Barbara Sher

If your life is anything less than interesting and inspiring not only to yourself but to others – you’re doing something wrong.  I love the quote by Eleanor Roosevelt which, quite simply, summarizes the purpose of an adventurous lifestyle. “The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”

Throwing yourself out there. Have you dreamed of doing something for years?  Have you always wanted to complete a task or goal but never quite had enough courage to get out there and do it?  Break down the reasons as to what lies between you dreaming and actually doing.  The range of choices and adventurous is at your disposal.

You are only limited by your dreams and imagination.  What’s holding you back?  Your job?  Your friends?  Your location?  Perhaps its time to take a bold approach and talk to your boss about more flexible hours or an earlier start and finish.  Are you friends restricting you with their philosophy of what like should be about?  Are the habits which they possess influencing you for the better or worse?  If its the latter, now is the time to go solo and create new friends.  Despite popular cultural thinking, you don’t need a ton of friends to feel loved and appreciated.  One or two close companions can bring more joy and happiness that a handful of individuals who don’t know the real you.  Your location, be it Tokyo’s Shibuya or in the middle of Hanks, North Dakota there are always options for taking on an new adventure.  Don’t allow your location or situation to starve you from a fascinating  lifestyle!

Try something new.  Are you in a routine rut?  Despite the fact that routines are a very positive and beneficial exercise, being in a non-flexible routine can have the opposite effect and can actually be more damaging than helpful.  Try mixing up your daily routine by driving to work a different way.  Eat breakfast on the porch in summertime instead of by the breakfast bar.  Enjoy an evening walk instead of the traditional morning routine.  Today, I decided to add a little adventure into a normal weekday’s evening meal.  Instead of eating dinner at home around the table as usual, I wrapped up our mashed potato and sausages in foil, packed them in our picnic basket and drove done to the beach with my boyfriend for an impromptu weekend-style dinner in the middle of the week!  It was fun and relaxing at the same time and it added a little spice to the normality of a weekday.
